Warum dieser Blog?

Hi, mein Name ist Phi Mee. Also nicht wirklich. Ich müsste wohl eher sagen, mein thailändischer Name ist Phi Mee, was man wohl mit "Herr Bär" übersetzen würde. Aber das mit den Namen in Thailand erkläre ich noch in einem eigenen Blogbeitrag.

Als "Farang" (so heißen wir Europäer in Thailand) verbringe ich mein Leben mit meiner thailändischen Frau Narisa und meiner thailändischen Familie (traditionell eine große Familie) im Süden Thailands. Wir leben in der Hauptstadt der Provinz Nakhon Si Thammarat (NST).

Was ich bisher so in Thailand über das Leben von Farangs mit Ihren thailändischen Frauen gehört und gelesen habe, unterscheidet sich doch ein wenig von meinen Erfahrungen. Dies hängt auch damit zusammen, dass wir eben nicht in den Touristen Hochburgen Thailands leben, sondern im Süden, da wo man machmal als Farang in den Strassen kleinerer Dörfer tatsächlich von den Kindern noch bestaunt wird. Deshalb möchte meine Erfahrungen als Farang in Thailand mit Euch teilen.

In meinem Blogbeiträgen wird es eine bunte Mischung aus Geschichten und Gedanken zu meinem Leben hier, Tipps und Empfehlungen für Reisende, ein bisschen was über Land und Leute, Essen und Trinken geben. Wenn euch etwas fehlt, lasst es mich gerne wissen. Ich freue mich darauf, Euch meine kleine Welt im Süden Thailands zu zeigen.

Why this blog?

Hi, my name is Phi Mee. Well, not really. I guess I should rather say my Thai name is Phi Mee, which would probably translate as "Mr. Bear". But I'll explain about names in Thailand in a separate blog post.

As a "Farang" (that's what we Europeans are called in Thailand) I spend my life with my Thai wife Narisa and my Thai family (traditionally a big family) in the south of Thailand. We live in the capital of the province Nakhon Si Thammarat (NST).

What I have heard and read so far in Thailand about the life of farangs with their Thai wives is a little different from my experience. This is also due to the fact that we do not live in the tourist strongholds of Thailand, but in the south, where you sometimes as a farang in the streets of smaller villages is actually still admired by the children.

Therefore I would like to share my experiences as a farang in Thailand with you.
